The Holston Mountain Hat Project was launched in 2006 out of the southern Appalachian town of Elizabethton, Tennessee. We are a mother-daughter team that designs and creates handmade headwear & accessories using crochet, knitting & sewing techniques.
At first, we limited our creations to hats, soon adding other pieces of headwear, including hair ties, head bands & hoods. Accessories such as scarves, cowls, fingerless gloves and slippers are currently part of our inventory. Items are knitted, crocheted and/or sewn using wool, soy, alpaca, silk, acrylic, mohair, bamboo, cotton & blended fibers.
Our handmade items are available for sale & donation. Since 2006, we have sold our product at over 500 events, including Farmer’s Markets, Music Festivals, Art & Craft Fairs, Fundraising Events and themed/holiday events (such as The Mushroom Festival and A Dickens of a Christmas Bazaar). Our handmade headwear & accessories are also available for purchase online; through our Facebook Page and our Etsy Store. Custom orders and “made to orders” are welcome. The “Project” in The Holston Mountain Hat Project is our donation initiative. Since 2006, we have donated hats and/or a percentage of profit to various non-profits & charities such as The American Red Cross, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Support groups for Cancer Patients and Homeless/Abuse Shelters.
